Aluminium formwork is sometimes used in larger construction projects or in situations where large number of re-use of shuttering in the same project is anticipated, such as in a building construction project which involves largely identical storeys. Aluminium formwork are stronger and more durable than timber formwork and the chance of reuse is much higher. Compared with timber formwork system, aluminium formwork system is easier and faster to assemble and dismantle and less demanding on skills, hence lower level and cheaper labour are able to handle. The quality of concrete surface finish is expected to be better than that formed by timber formwork. But unlike timber which can be sawed into particular shape, aluminium part cannot be reshaped once it is fabricated.
